Ultimate grips are junk
« on: May 10, 2017, 03:07:03 PM »
A buddy of mine has been literally preaching to me that they are to the new hot product and they are so much better. Blah blah blah...

At Nationals this week his New IQ tour had fresh new Ultimate grips...

He put about 7 games on it...

Grips were ripping, and falling apart in the middle of the minor events. I have never ever seen a grip, separate at the lip, both for that matter! I laughed, I can't believe they're that bad! Lol

I'll stick with the brand I have been using...No plug needed for them.

Anyone else have this problem?

I didn't have any problems with the sample I received from Ultimate. I'm gonna be helping run a new shop coming up and have been looking into carrying the brand as I liked them a lot.

I still have Ultimate grips in my Ridiculous Pearl and no issues

I love vise myself, I have experienced with the grips your referring to, although no ripping problems, didn't care for them myself.

I have just been skeptical because I have been feeling like the world has been passing me by cuz I haven't tried em.

My buddy even has bad feedback from him supplier that he was told the product wasn't defective....Ripping after 7 games...Both grips! Haha. Wow.

i use vacu grips and i bought some ultimates and tried them. They feel soft but they are thinner than vise or turbo. They tear easy.

hmm, that's interesting. I have been using them for a few months now and haven't had a problem. Switched from Vise. As a shop operator, I like to offer options. I find the finger inserts to be a little more firm than Vise (clear versus clear), and the shape to be a little more forgiving to swelling. I did appreciate the tackiness of the clear Vise inserts and don't feel the Ultimates offer that, but they are a hair snugger size for size, and it seems to make up for it. The biggest thing for me is their Ultimate Thumb is much easier and simpler to install. I still offer Vise products for the time being, but I have been pretty impressed with Ultimate stuff. Non-staff, non-biased, just a pro shop guy. I have had customers who loved them and customers who hated them. I'd say if there was a quality issue, I would bring it up to the company as its possible they had a bad batch, but I don't think its fair to call them "junk" based on minimal experience.

Interesting. I had no issues with contact from Ultimate. Originally I dealt with Dave Kost who was the VP of sales and marketing, but he left and I dealt with Ryan Squires. Both were easy to contact and very helpful

I just think it's crazy....

I don't see why ultimate couldn't replace his grips...What does it cost em like 25 cents and shipping???

Not like it's a bowling ball or a new pair of shoes....We're talking grips, and defective ones at that.

His rep said there some known issues....And they still won't replace em...Just bad biz if u ask me.  Whatever..

A grip not lasting 10 games is the problem. I am going nuts over this cuz I witnessed all of it in person, from installation to the all of the games bowled at Nationals
...Even tested the grips out after ripping....Never ever had it feel like that.
