Is that kind of childish reply really necessary?
A whole lot of us use Linds, in VAST preference to Dexters, whose crap seems to fall apart by looking at it sideways.
Is this the kind of Ballreviews.com you want to see???
If so, I'll be glad to oblige. If not, please restrain yourself from such negative comments. They serve no useful purpose.

I would use (and have) Linds over Dexters. However, since the Dynarooz Tour Ultras have been on my feet---no other company need apply.

I know that I will never bowl on the pba due to skill and drive. I do know there are some who use Linds because they shuffle there feet. Because of this my options are very limited. Have tried on a pair of the shufflers and was not sure I could shuffle. Due to back problems I am scared to try any thing else.

I was agreeing with him in the sense that I have never seen anyone in my area wear Linds. Everybody around here uses Dexter and Etonic. Sorry if I sounded like a jerk, I didn't intend to.

I still use Linds, and I bowl a few regionals every year. This is upsetting news. Mine are not near worn out yet and I just bought new discs to for the slide sole

FYI....riggs has posted about this issue as a devout old time Linds user and has said on another local forum "I am pursuing a few options but I tried to switch before (for a contract) and despite a lot of experiments I just could not. I drag my feet in my second step and other shoes besides Lind's tend to have big brims/edges that catch and cause me to stumble (even more than usual!). Could be forced PBA retirement for me - and others, from the contacts I have had."
So, yes there are those that will be hurt by Linds not choosing to re-up their PBA sponsorship.

I'm not good enough to even consider trying out for the PBA, but I do prefer my old Lind's Exxxtras compared to my newer Dynarooz Tour Ultras only because of the teflon pucks available.
Because my center has synthetic approaches and poor cleaning of the approaches, they are usually very sticky and it is not unusual to see other bowlers stick or even fall. With my bad back and bad knee, I need all the slide I can get without coming to an abrupt stop, so I have been using teflon pucks on my Exxxtras and that was one reason for my ordering a pair of Dynarooz Tour Ultras. The bad news is that the teflon pucks that come with the Tour Ultras is of very thin quality and not very durable. Thanks to a discussion with Charlest on this subject, I have made a few of my own teflon pucks for the Tour Ultras and they seem to be working out good so far.

I wore Linds until plantar fasciitis forced me to switch to Dexter.
My SST6 LX's are entering their 5th season and aside from a little scuff mark on the white leather tip of the right shoe where I stick the landing, they're in great shape. I love them so much there's a brand new pair in my closet when this pair finally gives up the ghost.
I still miss my Linds, though, and really love those pink/black shoes I've seen on a few websites. Good 'n Plenty candy colors

Gary and I have made our Linds Exxtras work on many conditions and with great longevity using home made teflon inserts. I have American made ones and they last 10 - 15 years on average. I'm on my last American made pair but they are in no danger of wearing out any time soon.

Then sorry, But I find it so far fetched that no one is using Linds at all??
here in central NJ, I see maybe a 50/50 mix of Linds and Dexters. I have tried Dexters several times, when my Linds needed replacing. Each of the three times, the Dexters virtually self-destructed, soles coming off, threads coming apart, etc.
I've used 4 pairs of Linds since 1984. The last two are/were Linds Exxtras, for which I made my own teflon inserts. My only hope to continue bowling when my last pair goes is that I can make a pair of 900Globals work somehow.
Sorry to raise such a fuss over nothing. I thought you guys were being sarcastic. As I said, that had not been my experience with you. I should have withheld judgement until I checked. Apologies.

The teflon inserts are what I was referring to as teflon pucks. Whenever I hear the word cleat, I think of spikes or studs used for traction protruding from the bottom of the shoe.

I kept my classic linds when I got my sst7's. The linds are still fine after 14+ years of use. My sst's are less than 3 years old and the back of the slide shoe inside has been in need of repair for more than a year. Knew i should have bought Etonics.
-
For me it's an issue of comfort. I have had some great Linds Classics (made in China) that may never wear out, but the past 2-3 years have worn Dexter with no regrets. They are not as durable as the Linds that I've owned, but there's no comparison comfort-wise. Now when I put on my old Linds it feels like I've strapped two pieces of cardboard on to my feet (comparatively) so It would be hard to go back without a real adjustment period.

I remember as a youngster in the 80's that you weren'ta bowler unless you wore Lind's Classic. You weren't an impressive bowler unless you had the Lind's Custom Classic with some sort of Metallic toe. How times and business change. There was never a shoe that lasted as long as the circa 1980's Linds...

I still wear Linds Special Edition Blue/Gold. I am on my second pair and have a brand new pair that I keep in my bag I bought on closeout from Bowling Supply. I have worn nothing but Linds since YABA. The reason I never switched to Dexter, is because I tried on a pair of SSTs back in late 90s, and compared to my Linds, they felt like I was standing on a 2x4. Also, everytime I went to bowl tournaments, I always heard more people who wore Dexter complain about approaches whereas I never have a problem. I stand by my Linds.

Beans,
The ones made in America are still made MUCH better than anything made in Mexico or China. I had a pair of Exxtras made by Linds in Somerset, WI, bought around 1995. When I heard they were moving to Mexico, July 2000, I bought a 2nd pair and put them away. When I wore out the edge of the heel on the 1st pair around 2005, I started using the 2nd pair. I suspect I "only" have another 6 - 8 years on this 2nd pair. But by then the Linds repair place will have fixed up the heel of my first pair ...
The stitching and the leather on both pairs of shoes are still in prime condition.

I complain to Lind's all the time about their shoes being made in China. We sell a fairly large amount of the lower end Linds as well as Etonic and very few Dexters. The higher end shoes we sell are mostly Etonic and 900 Global. Linds seems to have not kept up with the higher end bowlers and their needs. Technology has passed them. They seem to have gone to the shoe for the more masses which fits the China production. With the national average for men bowlers somewhere around 180 why concentrate on the very small part of the market. The other thing would be how much it would cost to pay the PBA to use the shoes on TV. How many people actually watch the show and notice that Linds shoes are being used. If there is not a good return for the money then why throw it away. I know when we were looking at being used on the PBA the cost was out of sight. You have to sell a great amount of product to recover the cost.

Concerning being able to shuffle your feet. I tried on a pair of the shufflers and I am not convinced you can shuffle your feet as easy as you can with Linds. A friend just bought a pair of semi customs from Linds 2 years ago. There are issues with the back of them. When they were showed to the Linds rep they said they would probaly not do any thing about it. So when my semi customs wear out I will see what is out there. Russ
