Memorial Day weekend 2014 20,000 1st Place Tournament
« on: November 04, 2013, 09:08:01 AM »
Just wanted to mention a tournament that is going on in my home state of Florida in the Orlando area over the memorial day weekend 2014. www.the20grander.com

This tournament is part of a group of tournaments called bowlflorida. The bowlflorida website is www.bowlflorida.com . The guy that runs these tournaments, his name is Randy is a decent guy. A few years back he was running an ABT branch in another part of our state, but now he is doing these tournaments and is getting much more interest/entries than he was with the abt events. He usually puts out very challenging and tough oil patterns for his tournaments.  One could make it a vaction and go visit mickey mouse and also enjoy bowling and the chance for a big payday. Also, there is a group of tournaments called the uba classic  WWW.BOWLUBA.COM that typically has a big money tournament over memorial day weekend, usually 10 to 20,000  1st place in the Orlando area, so you could go and have 2 different tournaments to go to and cash in....UBA is the big one , and on the weekends that both have an event, bowl florida typically has it's semi-finals in the late morning early afternoon so as not to conflict with the uba semi's and finals which are in the later afternoon and evening--otherwise he'd lose participants to the UBA tournaments, so the potential is there to rake in big bucks twice in one weekend.

Just wanted to let people know who might want to make vacation plans to have a bowling weekend, while being really close to Disney world & all the other tourist stuff in the Orlando area.

Well, the 20grander has listed the oiling pattern for the tournament. 38ft high volume 30ml. Glad I know before I go tomorrow. Will be hitting both tournaments over the course of the weekend. From what I gather, 38ft is only med length at best? which should mean there will be enough room before hitting the pins for some sort of movement on the backend?

Don't know if I want to alter my "traveling" balls or not on the spinner before I leave tomorrow.

The uba classic is having their tourney in port st lucie florida, still the times for the fin\\semi-finals for both tourneys don't overlap on Monday so one could win in Orlando in the morning and then drive 2 hours to port st lucie for the semi's there if one has qualified for it--I am hitting both so hoping I do. The uba has mostly put out a "modified Chameleon" pattern , which for me has always played like a reverse block, the other pattern they use is a somewhat high volume us open type pattern--although they haven't used that one lately.

Anyways, if anyone is free this weekend and near or in florida, check them out, I don't think you'll find bigger money handicap tournaments anywhere else at this time.

Interesting event, gives bowlers the opportunity to participate in the largest recognized participatory sporting event.
