Any word on lane conditions and what balls were working for you out Reading?  Also how many times can you bowl doubles and singles with the same partner?

Stopped by the doubles/singles event in Reading earlier today while the 2nd squad was bowling.  A couple of people I know were bowling and simply said "the lanes are DRY!!"  We all usually bowl on a 41ft medium THS, so using the term "dry" is all relative.

You can bowl the minor event only twice.  You can only cash once with the same partner.

So it's not the sport shot they put out last year?

Bowled in the NJ state last weekend.  S/D starting on fresh (4 bowlers per pair), I moved 30 left with my feet and  3 arrows with my target over 6 games.  And there was a team squad coming in behind us!

I understand it's not feasible to re-oil, but why not plan ahead and put down a shot with sufficient volume to actually hold up for the intended lane traffic?
Nothing worse than driving across the state to have ANY ball hook at your feet.  Give people a reasonable shot...

Heading there in a couple weeks.

They took a lot of heat for last year's oil pattern being too hard.  They promised to put something easier out this year.  I would like to bowl in the tournament (at least the minor events), but not sure my schedule will allow for it.

Looks like the scores at the State Tournament are pretty big already this year. Anybody gone yet or planning to go? We will be there mothers day weekend again this year.

Scores are really big so far...some bowlers bowling way over their averages.

Current leading handicap singles bowler has a 905 [better than perfect.]  Bowled a 767 + 138 handicap....with an average of 174.  Also currently 4th in the scratch singles division.

The leading scratch singles bowler has an 812.  Same bowler is 4th in the handicap division with  851 (812 + 39 handicap based on their 207 average.)

Doubles and teams are really high too. I'm going May 14-15, should be interesting.

I'm wondering what kind of shot this is on the lanes since the score are so big? The carry in these houses must be out of this world for the scores being bowled.

Well, all I can say is this was one of the most open laned tournaments I have ever seen for a Pa state tournament. You could just about play anywhere across the lane and score, the shot was anywhere from 5 to 5 left to right and the only thing that would keep you from scoring high was carry (naturally) or not making spares. I stayed pretty much between 5 to 15 at both houses adjusting my speed as needed and it turned out to be the best shot for me all weekend. My low game was 204 and high game was 289.
