This is a proposal for a scratch, singles, summer "sport" tournament/league. This would be for scratch bowlers participating in official or un-official "sport" leagues, nationals-pattern leagues, PBA leagues, or "challenge" leagues. As with all BR tournaments, we would not only rely on each participant's honesty in posting scores, but honesty in that they're are bowling in a league that features some sort of challenging lane conditions. This would not be a tournament for boosting one's ego. If all participants are truly bowling in the type of league posted, we should see some low scores.
Format: 3-games per week (Sunday through Saturday) for 10 weeks starting mid-May or early June. Each bowler would post scores from 1 specific sport/pba/nationals/challenge league. Bowlers earn points as follows: 5 points for each week of participation (non-blind), 1 point for each bowler beaten per game, 1 point for each bowler beaten per 3-game series, 3 bonus points for 1st place any single game, 5 bonus points for 1st place any 3-game series. No points earned for taking a blind and blinds do not count as a bowler "beaten".
My goal is to get bowlers to take on some tougher conditions over the summer and give those BR members who are taking on the challenge of tougher conditions a place to "congregate" and share their stories as well as some friendly competition. If formed, I propose calling the tournament the "HNTHS (Hooray, no typical house shot) Singles"
Questions and feedback are welcome. Let me know what you think. If you'd like to join/see this happen, please post the beginning and ending date of the league you would be using.
