WOW, what a first night.
Walked in expecting a super hard shot, and got an easy one in the end, but not without a little lane work.
Practice and 1st game, no hold area to the right, miss right, stays right, buried the 3-6 pocket multiple times in practice, finally said screw it, time for some lane strategy, began piping my 1200 grit seek & destroy up the 5 board, just eating up all the buff. Practice ends, 1st game begins.
I was really amped for the first night, serious adrenaline was flowing, had to calm myself down and stick with my lane play, kept piping that seek and destroy around the 5-7 board, created a nice miss area for myself to the outside. This game was all about burning out the outside and leaving myself makeable stuff.
Ended with 185.
2nd game begins, sticking with the Seek & Destory, first frame, crush shot, strike, 2nd frame, blast 9 pin, the ball is really moving now. 3rd frame, threw it with almost no rotation. left a light swish 7, then 4th frame got a clean shot off, crossed over, "light bulb goes off", switched to absolute inferno at 220 grit + 3M rubbing compound. Moved into the 7 board area, and just started smoking shots, miss right a board, its bouncing off the dry line up 5, mostly flush shots.
Ended with 225.
3rd game, now I'm just showing off, all shots are in the pocket, left a couple flat 10's on half pocket hits, but mostly just blazing the pocket with a couple of blaster 7's.
Ended at 258.
185-225-258 = 668
Leading league average by 10 pins after first night, if I dont average 220 this year, i'd be shocked. Everyone else was complaining about tracking oil all night.
Who knows though, maybe the shot will change next week, but everyone was surprised how much I dried the shot up with a couple of other sanded resin throwers, who thanked me after the match for setting up the lane with them.
I'd like to thank the PBA shots for really tightening up my game, its amazing how much you can learn in 10 weeks.
Heres to a great start to a great season.
