I've been back to bowling for nearly 2 months now and things have been going really well. My combined Storm/Roto arsenal is performing well, have shot several games over 200 in the past few weeks, and really feel that my form is back. The plan is to be full time in leagues this fall, and possibly get into a few local or regional tournaments depending on the schedule. I'm happy with the new arsenal, but I am thinking of adding a 4th ball and wanted to get some feedback.
I like to primarily play the outside of the lane and throw between 16-19mph usually. However, I can change hand positions to move further inside. So far, I have a Roto Grip Rising Star (light-medium oil, label drill, 3" pin with CG kicked out, no weight hole. gives me a skid/snap reaction), a Nomad Dagger (medium oil, also a label drill, 3" pin with CG kicked out, no weight hole, gives me a continual arc w/ controlled midlane). and a Storm VG Nano (drilled 4x4x2.5 with P1 balance hole, gives me a strong flare/strong arc)
Although I love all 3 of these balls, I found myself with more of a gap between the VG Nano and the Nomad Dagger than I expected when I was on the lanes 2 weeks ago. I definitely didn't have this gap between the Dagger and Rising Star since both have really complimented each other well. What happened was that once the lane broke down for the VG Nano on the 45 ft Route 66 pattern with heavier oil than normal, a move to the Dagger seemed a little bit over/under. Considering this may be where I ultimately bowl on a regular basis, and since they normally use heavier volume to begin with, this got me thinking of a good pearl ball to fill the gap. Plus, I want to be covered for a sport shot situation.
So far, my thought is either a Storm Anarchy or a RG Mutant Cell Pearl because I want to have it be similar to the Nano but with some extra length and more angular on the backend. Another thought is the 900 Global Bank Pearl.
Do you guys think this is a good choice? Also, is there anything from any of the other brands I should consider?
