First, welcome back to the game.
The good news is that there are easily balls that will work for you in both Storm and Roto Grip's line. Storm's Hy-Road is one of those tried and true benchmark balls that is a house shot killer. It features the time tested R2S Hybrid cover and fits a variety of styles from stroker all the way to cranker. It works on virtually all medium and some medium-heavy patterns.
The Hy-Road has been on the market for 4 years now and that alone is unheard of in the bowling world. That ball is just that good. Every time Storm has tried to discontinue the ball, their newer balls in the same price point just have not exactly compared. It has a spot in my bag because it will easily tell me whether the ball for the pattern is too much, not enough, or just right. I've also been able to use it on multiple types of patterns, including some sport shots and it is versatile.
Roto Grip has the Berserk, but I have not seen it used locally or know anyone using that as of yet. It is also a hybrid, though it comes at 4000 grit compared to 1500 polished on the Hy-Road. Both balls can easily have the surface changed to meet your needs and will be similar. However, I would not be able to go into detail about that specific ball to do a true comparison.
For the money, I'd say go with the time tested Hy-Road. It's a favorite among those who throw Storm for a reason. It just flat out works.
