Deciphering ball specs on the box

Hi Everybody, I’m not new to bowling but never have been interested in drilling options until recently.
When I need a PIN - PAP distance of 4” and I’ve got a bowling ball with PIN 2-3” stated on the box.. is it ok?
What the PIN numbers exactly indicate on the box?
Thanks for your help.

Yes, those specs should be fine.

The pin measurements on the box are only indicative of how far the pin is from the cg (center of gravity) marking on the ball, and have nothing to do with the pin-pap distance.

In general 2-3 oz top weight and 2-3" pin tend to give you the most drilling options though less important now (new static weight limits) but hard to go wrong with those in general.

Thanks for your input Guys 😊
I live in Europe and the new regulation of not drilling thumbhole hasn’t been applied for us.  It seems that it will depend on World Bowling decision, not USBC.
