Local Proshop

After a few years away from the sport I'm looking for a new ball. The local proshop is worthless, never open, no stock, heard of drilling horror stories, etc.

My question, how do you find a local proshop you can trust? Anyone with recommendations for my area? Sacramento, CA.

Sorry, Sacramento is one area I haven't bowled in yet.  Maybe Curse of Dusty or Jeremy Vitug can jump in.  They are from SF area, may know of someone reputable in your area.

If not, check with the bowling alley and find out who the PBA members are, ask one of them what shop he uses.  They know who can hit the lines.

Leon at Jerry's 300.

And just to ask what house do bowl at?

Thanks for the info, I will take a look at both suggestions.

bltbyj - Currently only bowling one league at Woodhaven, Woodland. It's been over 15 years since I bowled a league/tournament/recreationally. Equipment has changed and I am overloaded with choices, most of which I haven't a clue. So I am looking for a reliable, trustworthy shop to help me make the move into the 21'st century of bowling.

I probably should retract "worthless" from my original post regarding the local proshop. That's based on what others in the league have told me, not personal experience.

SrKegler, thanks for the shout-out.  

Unfortunately, I don't have any first-hand experience with any of the shops in Sacramento.  

I've done some asking around, and I have a couple of recommendations, if you're willing to drive a bit:  Kevin Mecham at Napa Bowl in Napa, and Jason Walton at Yosemite Lanes in Modesto.  I know, it's a long drive, but both of them come very highly regarded.

Will post again if I hear anything more.
