Track Clarification
« on: April 22, 2004, 02:40:42 AM »
I performed a search, but just found a lot of posts with "high track" or "low track" describing a particular bowlers style, but not the styles themselves.

My bowling vocabulary is pretty weak and I'm trying to get a few things ironed out. So anyway, I have a few questions...

1) I've come to understand that a high-track player will leave the ring of oil closer to the fingers (closer to the axis equator), as opposed to closer to the axis of rotation (the pole). Is this correct?

(this next question is assuming a ball that will flare 0%)

2)If a high-track player is what I described above, doesn't that generally mean a high-track player will have more potential to hook the ball (because the surface area of the ball actually touching the oil is greater)?

3) the ring of oil on my ball is about 1/2" to 1" away from my finger holes. What is this considered?

4) What is the mid point?

Thanks in advance.

1 - yes
2 - yes, usually.  High trackers tend to do better in oily conditions, low trackers usually like it dryer.
3 - pretty high track
4 - don't know
