so i just finished my first league this summer and i'm looking to move up to a heavier ball. i'm currently using a 13lb ebonite whirlwind cause that's all i could handle with my poor technique. when i first started if i scored around 120 i'd be happy. i ended the league with an overall average of 159. with 5 500 series and 3 games over 200, i'm definitely excited about the winter league.
the bad news, i bowl with only 2 fingers. it's something that i've done since jr high, and i'm slowly working my way out of it. but it's what i'm consistent with and probably don't want to completely switch over until next summer. i'm currently correcting my technique one step at a time. first was paying attention to where i was starting my approach, then it was actually walking straight, using the arrows, and well you get the point.
my current ball is drilled for the fingertip setup if i were to throw conventionally. i don't know the specifics on the rest of how it was drilled cause i just let the pro shop guy do what he does.
i stand with my right foot on the dot furthest to the left, and aim between the first arrow to the right of the middle, and the one to the right of that. my ball travels pretty much straight down that path and breaks at the end for the pocket. when i leave pins it's usually the 10 pin or both the 10 pin and the 9 pin. to pick up the 10 pin i have switch out to my friend's maxim since my ball hooks away before it gets there.
when i started the league i was throwing the ball at about 15.5 mph. after midway through the league my ball wasn't breaking in time for the pocket so i had to slow it down to about 13.5 mph.
sorry about the essay, but i figure being detailed would help with the suggestions.
