Hi All =)
« on: April 07, 2013, 07:16:35 PM »
Hi everybody, I'm semi new to the site..I've come here often to read reviews over my balls, and get tips occasionally..just haven't really made an account till today ha ha.

I do have..somewhat of a question...I've been bowling for about..oh 6-7 months or so and recently my oil track has..well, started rolling over the thumb hole but only slightly. The track doesn't go over the fingers tips, just a bit of the hole..Now the only problem I've been having with it is that it's taken a bit of hook out of my DV8 Too Reckless, though if I get surfaced at the pro shop it hooks fairly well...now the positives I've had with this issue is that my game has gone up..well quite alto, i used to roll like a 130/140 every game...but now I've gotten a new high score "234" and i now average around 170-180 every game..I'm just not sure what to do..try and solve the problem? Orr just keep on doing what I'm doing...

Well cheers guys =) look forward to becoming a regular here.

Just to double check. Your saying the ball is starting to flare over the thumb very slightly?  Do you hear it when the ball is going down the lane?

If the answer is yes to those question it could be a few things. One your throwing the ball different causing it to flare differently and catch the hole. Or the lanes are a little drier causing the ball to flare more and catch the hole.

Its worth asking your local proshop to look at and maybe watch you throw a few pitches to see what happens.
…… you can't  add a physics term to a bowling term and expect it to mean something.

+1.  It sounds more to me like it could be hand position at the release and a combination of the layout.  It could be potentially the lanes as well.  In either case, it doesn't hurt to have your driller watch you throw a few balls to pinpoint the issue.

I agree.  Probably more like he is over turning the ball.

Yeah I had my driller watch me throw a few, and he said it's probably my release, sure enough my release had changed a little bit since i last bowled "i took 2 weeks off last month because my dv8 had been chipped and was waiting for it to be repaired." so..i'm gonna work on seeing what's different about my release, thanks guys =)

Congratulations on your new high game.  Easy to get nervous after the first eight, just have to try to stay relaxed and do everything the same as the first eight, but easier said than done. :)
