I am not the best guy to tell you but after all I will be the first to actually try to explain after some have read the question and not answered.
What you need:
1. a reactive ball that actuall fits your hand
2. a strong wrist - strong enough to be kept in that position you want to release the ball
or 2.1 a wrist support if your wrist is not strong enough
(I ahve not a strong wrist but I don't need a wrist supporting device!)
3. someone that watches you to correct your misstakes
What you do:
Now it gets tricky and money won't help here
1. try too keep your wrist at a stable position to keep the hand under and a bit behind the ball at the release
2. try to release the ball this way but also try to get a feeling that as soon as the thumb leaves the ball to move up your arm or better to say bend your elbow to get some revs on the ball(there is no other possibility other than that the thumb leaves the ball
first if you keep your hand in the proper position!)
(you can also no bend your arm... but revs will increase with bending the elbow
3. try too keep your hand always und the ball and behind it slightly to the right to give the ball no only revs but also give it revs a tad sideways and to get a certain axis (you will find out with time how and what hand position during the release gives you this or that reaction)
What you should expect:
The ball should rotate good and a bit sideways
But that is just my "quick and fast" explaination!

I hook the ball almost as explained above but I keep the finges straight and try to get a better aiming by sacrificing revs..
I just let it fall and pull my arm up on my shoulder as soon as the thumb leaves the ball without making a fist (as some do to gain some extra revs - pulling on the ball with fingers - I call that the "TURBO" - and I only use it when the backends are responding well and I have a good wall on the lanes)
then I just get my open hand up to my shoulder like I as smashing a mosquito there - clap ... others say I'm giving myself a pat on the back for that good ball
Another possibility is to just pull the whole arm up ... Pete Weber does this... imho a better controll than revving it up like crazy. Once you get on a lane with spotty dry-wet conditions a good aiming is necessary and tons of revs are useless imho...
