How many inches

Hello bowlers,
I won a bid on a dark legend for a great price. I took it to my nearest pro shop to have it drilled and the guy told me it has a bad pin. The pin is 2inches. I could not chat cause i was in a rush. I am sending the ball back for a full refund. What is the best pin inch? 3 inch-4inch,4inch-5inch? The box the dark legend came in says 2-3,which now I know is no good. Thank you for your time in advance.

That wasn't directed towards you. But rather your PSO. We do not have all the details, but there is nothing wrong with a 2 inch pin. Could you be more descriptive in regards to the actual issue he or she had with the pin?

There is nothing wrong with a 2 inch pin.  When I think of bad pin lengths, 1/2 inch or 1 inch come to mind because you are very limited to the lay outs that can be used.  Before you go through the hoops of attempting to get your money back, you need to talk with your pro shop guy and find out why he says its a "bad pin."

A 2 inch pin is only bad when the guy you are wanting to drill it decides to be a DB because you didn't buy the ball from him.

The combination of a 2 inch pin with a high top weight could cause some limitations on how you want the ball drilled. But there is nothing "wrong" with a 2 inch pin. In fact, if you were looking for a ball for a pin down drilling without an extra hole, a two inch pin would be pretty much ideal.

I buy and sell a lot of bowling balls(not as a pro shop), and I look for balls with a 3 inch pin and 3 oz of top weight as being ideal.

He said if he drilled it, that something would crack and the warranty would be voided. Also he showed me that the little hammer on the ball and the pin was real close.When I get home I will put up some pictures. Thanks for everyones help

Perhaps he isn't talking about the pin distance but perhaps the pin itself is separated or cracked.  I'm still leaning toward itsallaboutme's answer, though. :)

As all about me said and others, he is being a DB because you did not ball the ball from him. There is NOTHING wrong with that ball. Looks good to me. Find a new Pro Shop.

Thanks guys. I am looking at hammers layouts which one do you'll suggest. the only thing that I see the pin under the fingers are The All Purpose and Strong Layout. Is it any others or is that just it?

Great first quality ball with great specs. Go to a different proshop for help.

If you return the ball the seller should charge you accordingly for shipping, restocking, paypal fees and any other fees that apply.
