Are you using your Xtreme on the dry lanes? If that ball hooks alot, just polish it up to 2000 grit. When the lanes are fried, all I do is throw either my Tornado sparkle or White dot. Unfortunately, by the time my Tornado gets down the lane, all of it's energy is gone and hits like a wet banana.
Also, try not to give it alot of lift but rather let it roll off of your hand. That should kill most of the hook on dry wood. I also have another dry ball from Ebonite. It's a Matrix Conquest. It was made for dry-light oil conditions. This ball rolls out too soon even with 1200 grit and polish.
One time I took the polish off and sanded with a Scotch brite pad w/ water. Rolled it down the lane from left gutter to right gutter and back left again without touching the pins. Man that's dry...
