First league question and oil breakdown

Pardon my ignorance!  I'm planning to join a league this fall that bowls 4 games with 3 person teams.  What sort of oil breakdown should I expect?  I have a ball that is designed for Med-Heavy oil and I have some money to get my second ball.  I'm not sure if I should anticipate Med-Dry or go straight to Dry.

It all depends on your game and everyone else's on the pair + how the lanes start and breakdown. There's nowhere close to enough information for us to help you. But yes a ball in the medium-light category would be a good start

I would wait to purchase the ball, unless you know some bowlers in that league that can tell you what to expect.  That league is still less than a league with 5 to a team bowling 3 games.

From my experience, going straight to dry, you have realize you are going to the very end of the spectrum. I have a couple of bowling balls for dry and they very rarely get used.  You are probably going to want to look into that medium category. Just make sure you find a ball that is not as aggresive compared to the one you currently have.

My suggestion is bowl a few weeks in the league, then you can get a good ide of what you need based on how your current ball is doing in those later games.

I manage a 32 lane center,  and believe me
me when I say there's no way we can really answer that. 
Lane surface, oil pattern, volume, type of oil, type of machine, outside temperature, inside temperature, equipment used by others on your pair, what line they're playing,  their rev rates and surface texture of their equipment, etc. all have a direct impact on how the shot breaks down or holds up.

Bowl a few weeks before you make a decision is great advice.

I can totally see what you mean now.  There was a posting for a non-sanctioned, come whenever you want weekly league tonight.  I somehow got the kids ready for bed early and got permission to go try it.  The oil was Heavy.  I had to move way right of my normal line to find traction and it never broke down all night.  So I decided on my way home that I'd wait and see what this league in the fall will be like.  The only complication I can foresee is that it is a travel league alternating between five different centers.  I've never encountered oil as heavy as tonight, even when I've watched the lane get oiled right before I started.

Yeah if you are going to be rotating centers its going to be almost impossible to nail it down. The shot could change from center to center so like your first experience you needed to actually go up, while another center you may need to go down.
