I've been bowling, purely recreational, for around six years now. The entire time I've been using a Brunswick Groove Reactive 14#, but finally the finger holes just aren't right anymore.
I was looking at moving up to a 16#, as the 14# just doesn't feel like it has any oomph at the end. I throw a straight shot, relying on very little, if any, hook at the end. Could anyone recommend a decent straight shot ball that doesn't climb much above $100? Any help is greatly appreciated. (Also, if anyone has reasons to not jump to 16#, I'm open to hear them)

Power Groove, Tropical Storm, or Scout Reactive.
I would say try going up one pound to 15, rather than skipping it and going to 16.

Why not try 15? just as good as 16 but the one pound less feels alot better

Hey! I made it all the way to the gutter. Shouldn't I get like 20 points or something?

Any entry level ball will do if you throw straight, cores and covers won't really matter. You might try a soild reactive around the 130.00 range drilled out the door.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll keep this in mind when I head the the shop this weekend.

Fifteen pounders (usually) have higher RG differentials in their cores than 16s, which will help out in the hook department. You won't ever need to go above 15, certainly not heavy 15s.
