Ordering a new ball

Anything special I need to know? I will be ordering it on-line, (save huge money than what I would spend at my local pro shop)I will have the pro shop drill it for me once I get the ball.

I'm getting the Black Widow.

You say you are saving a bundle, but what is the total cost after the pro shop charges for drilling and grips? Is it really worth it to not support the pro shop?

Also, if you price online, ask your pro shop if he can match it. My guy will work deals, but he also prices closer to major online shops so he's easy to support.

very much worth it. Save about 75-85 dollars.

If you are really worried about my pro-shop send me the 75-85 dollars and Ill get it there!

Sometimes it really is cheaper.  A high end ball here is $230 plus $27.50 for inserts/thumb.  Buying online can easily save you $50+.  The shop I go to is about two hours away but his prices are much more competitive with online sales, it's pretty much a wash, even on high end stuff.

I'll support my local shop, I'm happy to do it.  I'm not going to support $30 inserts.

Might I suggest doing a one time purchase at the pro shop and ask for a copy of your measurements and then on your next purchase do the whole thing on line when it arrives at your door it's ready to roll. I suggest doing a spare ball at the pro shop so it's less expensive.

So if I'm ordering it on-line and having my pro shop drill it is there anything I need to ask the online shop for? Pin placement? Anything? Or just order it and the proshop does everything else?

That's why I'm asking you guys. Some insight would be appreciated instead of pointing out I'm new and why I'm asking the question. My proshop is charging 50 to have the ball drilled. They over charge for their balls or I would purchase one there.

So again, what should I ask for when ordering the ball? Pin placement?

1oz top kicked out anywhere won't require a weight hole unless your driller screws up.  Not to mention that a ball with 1oz of top weight is actually hard to find.

If you're buying online and need to choose specs, 2-3oz of top weight and 2-3" pin will give your driller a lot of options.  Put the pin and CG almost anywhere and only require a modest weight hole.

So what excatly is adjustable when you are ordering? The pin, and any additional weight you want?

You should be able to choose the weight, pin distance, and top weight.  Keep in mind that it is not always possible to fill orders with exact specs requested.  Things get a tad more complicated when ordering asymmetric stuff online due to the chance that the CG may not be in line with the pin and MB.  If it is close it generally doesn't matter, but in some cases it can be very important (No Mercy).

Won't you have to pay for the drilling anyway even if you buy it from the proshop?

Most shops include drilling in the price, you never see what the shop's cost is or the cost of the bare ball undrilled.  If a shop doesn't include drilling in the cost, the prices will probably be more in line with online prices, but drilling will be extra.
