Lightweight balls for kids
« on: July 29, 2004, 11:59:39 PM »
I'm looking for advice for a ball for my son...he's 9 and averages about 115 with an older 8lbs plastic zone.

I see SmashRs and Proactives on ebay at great prices and I'm wondering if one of the would be a good step up for him.

tgs300 -- Why don't you go to your local pro shop and get his advice?  At your son's age, selection of ball weight can be tough.  Without seeing him, I'd guess 11 pounds, but the pro can show him various weights, let him feel them, and put them in a ball sling and let him swing them.  Correct weight might be 10 lbs, might be 12 lbs.  And you're going to have to get the ball drilled somewhere.  Any of the low end reactive resin balls (or even urethane) would be great for his age.  Your pro shop might have a special for fall season going.  Don't waste your money by going above entry level, though.  --  JohnP
