Need recomendations for buying a new ball

I am still learning and taking lessons. I am not in a league and just practice during the day.

I am currently using an older Ebonite savage that I purchased used. I has been plugged 5+ times that I can tell. It has started cracking near the plugs and has quite a bit of surface damage.

I would like to get a new ball that I can grow into not the most powerful thing I can purchase. I would like someting other then a plastic ball though.

I can't provide too much information on how I bowl as I just don't know the information. I typically play house shots and aim up the 10 board after lining up on the 15.

Is there anything I have to ask for as far as pin/cg I have no idea what my current ball is and realy don't knwo what to look for.

dmcneal -- The Ebonite Tornado series are good balls for a beginner.  They have the reactive resin coverstock, but don't have the dynamic core the more expensive balls have.  A good buy at $80 or so.  --  JohnP

i have to agree with johnP. the tornadoe series is a great line for the beginner. My wife has one and she loves it. I have also heard good things about the groove series for beginners. If you want a ball you can grow into though spend the cash and try to find an original inferno. Im a huge inferno mark.lol. I also am not that great of a bowler, and the inferno has brought my game up about 30 pins on average, and im still learning how to throw it. lmao. anyway. your best bet right now is probably either the tornado or groove. both good balls at reasonable prices.

take a look at hammer's blade series, and columbia's flipside series. a little more expensive than the tornado's, but the hammer's and columbia's have been getting great reviews for the price.

I took your advice and got a 15lbs Violet/Red Tornado So far it is a very nice ball. The pro shop owners agreed this is a great ball to learn and advance with. Thank you all for your help.
