newbi question
« on: February 27, 2008, 04:09:47 PM »
Hi I'm wondering how to become a better bowler and what I should be looking for. I've been bowling league for a while now avg about 160, high series was 650. The 3 balls I have are RSX300, Cherry Vibe, sorchin' inferno, Roto Grip's RS-P(use as spare and back up when dry).
Ok so what I've done is look at where I stand and with each ball I throw it differently and I just try to make things work knowing how my balls react because of all the times I've thrown it. Basically I have an idea of how to throw each ball based on trial and error. I guess I'm asking on how to make correct adjustments, what am I suppose to be doing aiming wise....right now I'm doing looking at where I stand, focus on the pins take 5 steps and throw. I don't have a clue about boards or break point...any tips are appreciated.

a lot of different bowlers look at different things.  But dont focus on the pics at all.  focus on something closer.  i personally focus at the dots on the foul line and throw according to them, but my partner looks at the arrows.  It just depends on which you think works best.  Neither of us have a better game because we look at either or.  I  would suggest throwing your first shot in the same place everytime you go to get a read of the lanes and to know what your up against.  If it doesnt hook back, move right, hooks too much throw faster or move left.  Try to hit your same mark over and over again.
