Ubik -- Re. the drilling on your Ebonite Maxim - the Maxim is a plastic ball that does not have a dynamic core, so the pin position is not critical, and the pin is normally located on or very close to the cg. So your driller has laid the ball out "straight up", or with the cg in the middle of the grip. That's as good as any other layout for the Maxim. The choice of your new ball is dependent on your skill level and ball release. If you don't get many revs on the ball, in my opinion, a dynamic core is not going to help you much. I recommend the Ebonite Tornado series (hate to sound like a commercial for the Tornados, but they are really good beginner balls), which have the reactive resin coverstock without the dynamic core. They are priced in the $75 - 90 range. Use that for a year or so, then decide if you want to spend the bucks (or pounds) for a dynamic core. -- JohnP
