I used to bowl years ago (about 2002) and I fell off until about 2006.. then fell off again until about 2 weeks ago a friend invited me to bowl with him on his birthday, this time I want to stick with it.. My ball I have is pretty basic it's a Ebonite Cats Eye it's a good spare ball but I' having a issue trying to remember when putting the fingers in the ball do I inset the fingers all the way in the hole? I noticed my knuckles are a lot bigger so I can't really do so anymore without the ball getting hung up on releasing.
Because of the bowling with him was a last min thing I ended up using one of the house balls But I'm very serious about wanting to get back into it as he wants me to join him in the winter league I more certainly want to work on my game first before joining since I was only getting around 82-89 after 2 games.
Now that brings me to another question I plan to pick up another ball soon but not sure what I should be looking for, where I went the lane was pretty avg as far as the amount of oil put down, right now my goals are to work on my follow through and learning to release my thumb first and hook.. but the thumb part like I said and the holes in the ball in general need to be a bit bigger.
The ball might be a little too light for me to use now as well, last time I bowled with it my speed was about 26 mph and I ended up blowing pins up the gutter twice and causing someone to come out and to throw them back in the pit, I'm thinking about 14 lbs might be right for me.
