What causes roll out and how would you adjust to it? Also, has anyone got a ball expecting one thing but not getting the result that was sought?

I have a AI drilled pin above ring and cg stacked below ring. I don't have a bunch of revs and average speed but, I expected more ALOT more than I have gotten. I know it's a good ball, I just don't think it is laid out to fit my style as well as it could be.

I don't know what my pap is, and I don't have a video, so I was hoping to get some general advice/thoughts. Thanks for your time.

Roll out is due to the ball burning it's energy up early on the lane. If your speed does not match the drilling, it can happen. That drilling on your AI should give you some length, but if the surface is too dull, it will burn up and roll out.

Maybe try to get a little more speed on the ball, and see what happens.

Hope that helps you out.

Roll out also occurs when the ball you play is too aggressive for the conditiosn at hand - normally, there is not enough or too short oil for it,s o it loses its stored energy from the release through friction on its way to the pins.

Remedies can be searching for oil on the lane (deep shot "through the middle", somtimes an inside line up the gutter works, too) or overpowering the ball with speed and muscle - but that's no smart solution IMHO. You do not need a high performnce abll for this, you could also revert to a polyester ball if you just want to battle the ball down the lane. I think your "weak" AI is simply a bad match of equipment, style and conditions.

Other things to try is polishing the AI. This should make it less vulnerable to a lack of oil and give length, also enhancing its hook shape when it breaks. On the downside, the ball can become less controllable. The drilling is IMHO O.K. You have low revs and can use a strong layout.

Another thing to check is simply your release and style - if you have a weak release, tend to spin the ball (low track) or simply do not get the ball cleanly off of your hands, this can prevent the ball from showing its true potential, too.

From far, diagnostics are difficult. If you can, have an experienced bowler or your pro shop owner/staffer watch you play. That might be the best tip I can give you besides the other speculations mentioned above for your "symptoms".

Good luck!
