Question about the lane...
« on: July 26, 2005, 02:42:10 AM »
Hi just a question about the lane : it is true that all types of lanes have three type of aiming options ?
a) The arrows
b) the dots at the foul line and
c) another set of dots somewhere between the foul line dots and the arrows.

Thanks

As far as I know this is true, but there are also lanes that have targets further down the lane probably around 35-40ft. I think that all naes have the three types of marks you mentioned as a minimum though.

they aren't required to be on the lanes, but almost everyone does anymore

I like to make a line...foul line dots, arrows and the darker boards ( maybe 35-40 ft) down the lanes. If I can draw a line connecting the three, that's the line my ball will take. It takes me a couple balls to make sure that's the line I want, (wish I could make it 1 ball)but once I have that line, I seem to 'feel' better and hit my mark a lot more often.

The next step, is knowing when to change balls. Working on that.

ksan218, these marks are meant for breakpoint control, 3' long board sections down the lane. They are not intended for aiming. Normally only found on Brusnwick lanes.
