Ring Finger PAIN
« on: February 28, 2008, 02:44:32 AM »
Last couple times after bowling, I experience a lot of pain/swelling on the tip of my ring finger. The pain is quite immense, at the point where I try to avoid using my hand in daily life.

Back on track, on my follow-thru, it feels like the entire weight of the ball is hanging on the ring finger tip. The finger insert fit my finger, not loose and not too tight.

Am I not releasing my finger tip properly?

Am I using too much ring finger for control?

I heard somewhere...ring finger for control, middle finger for velocity. Is this correct?

So the only solution is to re-drill my ball and shorten the span?

Any other ways of getting around this?

Take the ball to your pro shop and show him your hand, explain to him what is happening and get his advice. It may be a little thing like you forcing your hand into the ball and then again without watching you bowl the span may be too long.

I talked to my shop guy last night and showed him what's wrong. A larger ring finger insert seems to have solved my problem. Ring finger doesn't get caught up at release now.

Thanks for all your input people.
