Since when Bowling became so Difficult?

Burnt up Heads, lots of carry down due to straight traffic. What a bowler to do?

Can't get to the pocket. Moved left, then some more, then some more, looking for oil in the heads, where it was very little. But. There was a lot of carry down. When found dry in the back end, it did manage to find the pocket. But that was seldom. Mostly it hit an oil streak and sailed through to 6 or 10 or gutter.

Moved out with a Urethane and kept my hand at the back of the ball so it wouldn't jump. Never turned the corner. Brought the hand to the side. Either didn't make the turn or hit the 4 or 7 pin. Depended whether it hit the dry or oil streak.

Really frustrating stuff. As if I didn't know how to bowl. So much so I wanted to hang the shoes and started thinking about giving Snooker a shot instead of Bowling.

Any idea which ball/layout combination would blend the wet dry and carry down best.

Reactive balls for the guys that hit up on urethane.  The gremlin that would kick your ball sideways was mean and unforgiving.

1992 was the year that saw the introduction of reactive resin balls. It represented a dramatic change in ball reaction, as compared to urethane and plastic balls. Reactive resin (RR) balls hook much more and they require a much different type of release to be effective.  RR balls work best when they are released with minimal grip pressure.
They also work best when they are released low and very parallel to the lane surface.
RR balls are also much more "finnicky" as to ball speed and hand position changes.
They are usually more difficult to control at the breakpoint than urethane or plastic balls, however the payoff is that they of course, usually carry better and they allow the bowler to attack the lanes from a multitude of angles.

In my home house hit the 3 board get the 10 pin with your hooking ball. Try to play
down the 10 board no hook hit the 9 get a strike hit the 8 go high.  Averages down 15 to 20 pins across the house. I play on senior leagues there and the other players use plastic urethane rubber and some reactive balls. I pay on 2 travel leagues just to go to other houses and play different shots. Shot is better every other house. all I can say change houses and maybe you can find a shot that fits your game. Or change your game.

This sounds a lot like the house I bowl in. My forza works most nights, but it has not been here lately. I brought my 300c pearl out of the closet to give me something weaker but still silky smooth at the breakpoint that is not as prone to overreaction without balling all the way down to urethane. In this house, I don't look for area at the breakpoint. That just isn't going to happen. I just want damage control when I miss my breakpoint. Smoother equipment like the forza, 300c pearl, and pitch black help me leave easier spares on bad shots

I bowl in east Texas my 2 nationals partners 1 from Vegas and one from Baton Rogue
area have all had lower house shot scores what in the world is going on ??
 USBC average for last year 203 and this year I am getting 17 pins handicap How about this easy shot ?/

When the oil dries up, you start moving left and keep throwing on the mark you were throwing on.
I throw straight too, I manage best on the burn. With a Motiv Jackal.
I suck in the first 2 series :/ We play 4 series in our league.

I've never bowled on light or desert conditions though.
So you might want to get a ball meant for light oil then. I'd get the Motiv Ascent.
