I'm totally strapped for cash at the moment, so I can't pick up my first reactive.
I see a small hook (2-3 boards) with my maxim polished, would this increase with more surface?
Is it worth it?

give it a shot...... i throw my plastic ball at 220 grit.. it works really well when there is short oil and screamin back ends.... if it doesnt work for ya, you can always polish it back up

Thanks for the advice.
I will try 600 first and see what it does.

Hook out of plastic...hmm...MEK, toluene- oh, you wanted to stay legal
Certainly you can scuff plastic, but it still isn't going to move a ton. Depending on how strapped you are, you might be able to find some decent older reactives in the under $50 range plugged and ready to drill. On most house conditions, you don't need to be thinking in terms of the latest and greatest...its overkill.
