My thumb swells quite a bit as the night goes on and I was wondering about using some tape for my thumb. I've been reading and it seems a lot of people put tape into the thumb hole, but I was wondering about putting tape around the knuckle of my thumb. Would this be a bad thing? besides potentially changing my span slightly? I was thinking maybe using a band aid on my thumb or some other type of tape.

if your thumb swells then making the hole tighter won't help
tape makes the hole tighter.
take your ball in and have them open up your thumbhole, and then adjust it out w/ tape
Also there are products like Magic Carpet you put in the back of the hole that help you get a snug fit, that don't change your span
I would not suggest putting tape on your digit, jmo

thanks for the reply.
sorry I forgot to mention that my thumb is loose at the start of the night, so after 15 frames or so it swells to a nice fit and then after 40 frames it starts to get stuck.
What are the negatives of putting tape directly on the digit?
I was thinking maybe it'd prevent the rubbing on the skin and act like the brunswick thumbsaver.

Different companies such as ebonite make tape just for putting on your fingers. You can buy it by the roll.

Another approach might be a switch grip for you - an interchangeable thumb insert. If you know that the thumb swells and you need quick and frequent adjustments, using 2-3 different thumb inserts (e. g. same drilling but with different numbers of tape inside to change the diameter) could be a convenient solution. another benefit would be that you actually have the same thumb feeling on each of your balls. on the downside, you need to prepare all your balls accordingly with an adapter, this can become pricy.
But it is just a thought
