Title: Track height?
Post by: Shermster on March 05, 2008, 02:40:21 AM
What does it mean when someone is a Low, Medium or High tracker?

Any pro's and con's? Or it's just something that suits each different bowler's style?

When you bowl, you see oil rings on your ball. Look at the rings and if the rings are up next to your fingers, then your a high tracker, if the are low, more on the side of the ball, then you're a low tracker. If your rings go between your fingers and your thumb, then you're a full roller.

It kinda shows what part of your ball touches the lane.  Just go pick up a ball on a newly oiled condition and throw a few shots....examine where your oil ring is and that will tell you what you are, and you can lay the ball according to that.

The best way would be go to your pro shop...have him watch a couple of shots and then measure your Positive Axis Point....then have him drill it that way.

IMHO, for a High tracker (track closer to fingers and thumbs) the ball rolls earlier while the low tracker bowler rolls much later to the pocket, saving more energy for the ball which later results with more of skid-snap reaction.
 Maybe this helps a bit:

Ok seeing this I think I am a cranker but also I see my track going between the finger(middle finger and ring finger)and thumb holes so where does that fall
