Beginner Hook

All:

I just started bowling again after a great amount time off.  However, I have always thrown a straight ball.  I am currently reading books on how to "hook" a ball; however, I was wondering if there are any websites out there on how this looks.  The book, "Steps to Successful Bowling" is great, but I am confused on how exactly to release the ball.  Therefore, I was wondering if anyone knew of a website that had a video or pictures on how this looks/works.  IF there isn't anything out there, is my only option to get a "instructor"?

Thanks a lot!!!  However, if I am trying to "learn" the hook, which of the 3 options (stroker, cranker and spinner) am I supposed to view, visualize and learn? :-)

do NOT try to learn the spinner, the cranker or stroker is best for u. Cranker is high revs, big hook. Stroker is medium revs, medium speed...best choice in my opinion.

Cranker or stroker isnt the best for him, what if he cranks the ball wrong? BAM wrist injury and no more bowling. Get a coach and he will help you with your own style.

So, no cranker, stroker or spinner.  What exactly is he supposed to learn?  And BK said the stroker is the best choice...at least for a beginner.

The stroker style is the easiest to learn and shouldn't exert much strain on your body.  Look at tip #20 in Ron's archive (in my signature).  There are lots of great tips there.  Beginners to advanced bowlers can all learn something.
