Could you tell me what kind of shot was down for your videos?

Also, you throw a good ball to have not shot 800 yet, but I hear that for my game and I have been bowling off and on since 73.

Thanks
Shipper

Hey Shipper,

They laid down a new house pattern for the summer at this house.  It''s a 40ft standard house pattern but with very stripped backends and extra volume on the outsides.  Has a lot of out of bounds but a lot of move off the break point.

Thanks for the compliment about the 800  It''s the elusive score for me I guess.

Hope this helps!

insidedrive, compared to your total bedlam video you are releasing the ball much better.  If you made changes, how did you go about it?  I am always curious how people practice and what they do to change their game.

r534,

Thanks for the feedback.  The biggest part of my game that I've been working on lately is my timing.  I now have late timing getting into my release which allows me to target better and stay under the ball more.  It took a lot of analyzing my approach to do it.

One thing about my game that's different than a lot of others is that my steps are all basically the same speed, usually the pace goes 1...2...3.4...5  Mine are more like 1...2...3...4...5  So in order for me to get late timing without ruining my rhythm was to get into the swing later (between 2nd and 3rd steps) and focus on letting the ball just drop in the pushaway.

I've been to a few coaches and the first thing they work with me on is getting my pushaway on the second step because they think I have too late of timing with the swing.  One thing they never looked at though was my foot speed, and so for me getting into the swing on the 2nd-3rd step is the equivalent of most others getting into it on the second step.  Otherwise I find that I have to run to the line in order to prevent early timing.

Anyway, that's what I've been working on for the last couple months.  Hope this is helpful!

insidedrive, good points.  Good to hear you sorted out your timing.  Mike Jasnu sorted out my timing when I went to see him last year.  Later in the year, I changed to six steps to have more rhythm and to keep my swing in time.  I had late timing as well and I was playing catchup at times.

Look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future.

I just watched your older video and saw how your timing was really late. I used to throw 5 steps with me not pushing the ball out till my 3rd step. I then took a lesson with Jasnau and he showed me how to start the ball on my 2nd step and I can tell if I am late when I bowl now.

He also mentioned and this is something you will learn, you can be late on a house shot where you have room to miss, but you will find being out of time on tournament and USBC type shots will cost you a bunch.

I found this past Reno that even when I didn''t have my timing perfect, being close saved me some shots I thought were gone.

This is from and old man who is still learning about the game.

Good luck,
Shipper
