I apologize beforehand about the shakiness of the camera.  No, there was no earthquake happening at that time.

There are three shots in this video.  The first two were in the middle of the first game for a 279.  The third and final shot was at the end of third game for a 223.  Lanes broke down a bunch, so I was giving it extra oomph.

The 2nd part of the video is the same as the first, just slowed down.  I thought that would help focus on form rather than reaction.

I like your video and I see the different from first two videos and the last one with you slowing down.If you do like what you did on the last one that is great beacause you were not off balance and the armswing with hand open at the top going thru the ball at the hand,to me that is good creating power there.But I notice that you do not slide that much.Don't worry about that because I don't slide that much either.You have a A game by playing that line but you can have a B and C game by changing hand position or different ball that react different plus playing other area of the lanes.There may be a time that you may not have that shot.By working on that part of your game by playing different areas changing balls or hand position that you can be better.I'm not being harsh but from what I have seen that you are a good bowler and by doing what I mention that you can better yourself.

I hate ten pins but love the game of bowling with just the right ball to take them out.

Wow, for a second i though i was getting Rick Rolled when that song started to play.

Anyway, you need to relax your arm swing more. With your arm being way above your head like that, theres no doubt in my mind that you are muscling the ball. You dont want to be doing that. You want to let gravity take the ball from your push away and let that gravity do all the work. Basically let the gravity dictate your arm swing and the speed of your ball.

Gotta agree with the other posts here.  The easiest way I could tell you're really trying to put muscle behind it and really hit it at the bottom of the swing:  look at the way your hand goes from the outside of the ball, across to the left at the release point, and then back out to the right on the rest of your follow-through.  You're REALLY trying to hook the snot out of it, and while that's usually fine on house shots, that kind of release can get you in trouble in flatter, more challenging patterns.  Remember, the ball does a lot of the work for you these days, so you don't have to hit it with all kinds of rotation and power just to make it hook and carry.

I completely understand.  The thing is, I'm really not trying to force the ball.  I'm totally relaxed when I'm bowling.  I used to have a stutter-step, which explains the late timing.  I fixed the stepping, but never fixed the timing.  I can see how it seems like I'm trying to hook the cover off of the ball.  I really don't try to though; that's just the way I play the lanes.

I wonder if slowing down the first few steps would help the timing and muscled swing?  Any thoughts?

The best way I can think of to really loosen up and relax your armswing is to try something in practice (definately don't do this for the first time when score counts!)  Try doing your normal approach, except use quite literally as little muscle effort as possible in your swing.  Don't even try to really hook the ball.  Just try to get it to roll cleanly off your hand, and keep your arm and ball just in a straight line under your shoulder the whole way.  Once you actually feel this in action a few times, it will make it easier to find a good balance between power and a smooth armswing when you do start developing out your swing from there.  Because you may not feel like you are, but man oh man are you ever trying to hook the snot out of it at the bottom of your release!

You have lots of power at the end of the swing, Your late swing is where you get it, use it as an advantage. Look at videos of Rudy "Revs" Kasimakis. And try to mimic his footwork to master your style of bowling.
