Gotta agree with the other posts here. The easiest way I could tell you're really trying to put muscle behind it and really hit it at the bottom of the swing: look at the way your hand goes from the outside of the ball, across to the left at the release point, and then back out to the right on the rest of your follow-through. You're REALLY trying to hook the snot out of it, and while that's usually fine on house shots, that kind of release can get you in trouble in flatter, more challenging patterns. Remember, the ball does a lot of the work for you these days, so you don't have to hit it with all kinds of rotation and power just to make it hook and carry.
