If you pause at 8seconds, you will see that the ball deflects too much on the head pin and the 5th pin. The ball is actually touching the 6th pin, making it go around the 10 pin.

move right with your feet 1 board.. or back 6 inches on the approach..
.. you need to be a bit heavier on the head pin.

He does need to move. The center needs to level the pin deck. It looks as though they have phenolic pin decks installed. Over time the vibration causes them to move up or down slightly. It looks like this one is high. Pay attention when he throws at the 10 pin. You can see the deck is really high on that side and hear the ball hit the front of it. Poor maintenance of the decks will cause low scores. I bet there are more than the normal amount of 5 pins left at this center, if all the decks are like this. For an example of how much this can effect scoring, here is a story. There was a local house that asked me to level their pin decks because they had gotten too high. Scores were low and there were a TON of weak tens, 5-7's and 8-10's being left. It took me about 4 hours to go through 32 lanes. Following week the scratch leauge comes in. They had 4 award scores out of the one league if I remember correctly. They had only had 4 up to that time and this was toward the end of the season.

I hear you on the decks needing maintenance. I know from bowling in an alley that the owner does as little as possible our lanes 9-16 have pin decks that are not level and have ridiculously bad carry.

Yeah I know the adjustment for 10 pin guys, thanks.

The jump may be attributed to me, I have a really high track, and with balls that have the pin on my grip center, I tend to flare over my grip,I have a Liberator where the track on it is directly over my grip, its kind of weird, never sure how to break it. And the Ice Storm has Pin  / CG almost exactly inline with my CoG.

There are some more videos on my youtube page, they are a couple years old, could put some new ones up after the weekend.

not sure if leveling is the problem most likely they are no longer fastened to the foundation underneath the lane.  This happens a lot with adjustable pin decks.
