I sand 4 sides, 6 is also recommended. 4 seems easiest.  Grips up, down, right left.

I do six sides on the lowest grit or 2 only generally (prevent flat spots).  I do four sides on the other steps basically leaving out side 3 and side 4 in this diagram.

Here today.  Gone tomorrow.

I purchased the same spinner last summer.  It's great and I really like using it for polishing most of my equipment.  As for sanding, I have learned that for me, the CTD pads work the best.  However, YMMV.  The Abralon and Siaair pads wear out unevenly and they tend to load up if you leave them in one spot for too long.

There are some good videos out on YouTube regarding this subject and how you would sand your equipment properly.  Along with the six sides pic above, I would highly recommend "wet sanding" before trying dry sanding on your balls.  Why?  Because our hands wants to "fight" against the speed of the spinner initially so that we "see" the pad working on the ball.  However, you can wind up cutting the ball too much in one or two spots because of the speed of the spinner.

For me, wet sanding helps to prevent uneven spots on the balls and it helps with helping to decrease excessive loading of the sanding pads.  Once I got used to the speed of the spinner, I now get really good results, which gives me near factory finish surfaces.  YES!   8) ;D

Good luck with your new toy!  Peace!

CAB sanding blocks. They are contoured to the shape of the ball, and will even out the pressure. Also helps reduce "leveling off" the top of holes.

I always do 6 side of the ball to get the surface I want. Believe it or not, I have an often used 3M Green pad that gives me the best, and most consistent surfacing of all the pads that I own!

It is even better than the abralon pads that I have, so generally, depending on the desired surface, I base it on 15, 20, or 30 seconds of pressure per side with the USED green pad....and then fine tune that surface with 5 seconds of a particular grit abralon pad that I want!

This really gives me diversity in overstock motion!

I use the 3M green on my particle TNT lightly before every set. Works great.

Thanks for all of your help! I appreciate it! So I should have given some more information as to what I’m working with: I have CTD pads 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, P5000D. I screwed up one of my balls that needed a resurface (luckily it’s was a DV8 Alley Cat) but still that ball performed more than adequately for me for a $50 dry lane symmetrical ball. I’m rev dominate and all of my high end stuff is all pears. Working on getting a solid, back to the point so I ended up sanding the ball unevenly because i wasent aware of the wet or dry sand differences and of course I dry sanded at 500 and the rest is history (I sanded 2 sides). Ugh 🤦🏻‍♂️
