Bowlers Journal Ball Testing Video -- Oct. 07
« on: October 02, 2007, 12:20:34 PM »
This is Joey Cerar's test video for BJI's October issue; provide your thoughts, or just enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QrQjZ_36r1o

I think what does need to be noted, though -- and this is left out of the video -- is the fact that it seems perfectly obvious that the less aggressive balls in the video seem to perform better and provide more miss room. Just look -- the Creature seems great, the World Class Particle Pearl too...but the strong asymmetricals, like the Break, don't seem to match up to the conditions and the wood lanes. There is WAY too much angle, too much friction both up front and in the back, too much of an unsure breakpoint, for the Break to be effective. And...4 and 2 LEFT OF THE RISING??? How can one even say, then, "oh, the Break didn't look good." It obviously wasn't the best condition for the ball, and some of the shots...are iffy at best (I mean, how much can you expect to miss your target by???). The same goes, I think, in the case of the Rising and LevRG.

I thought it was a good idea that needs some obvious tweaks. But do comment!

But then, the Creature and the Break should ALMOST not be usable on the same condition, UNLESS it were a house blended wall ....

The World Clas Particle Pearl SHOULD also need more oil than the Creature.

The Break and the Rising, from what I understand, are similarly reacting and oil handling balls. (Not identical, just similar)

Other observations:

The LevRG has a lot of backend for such a dull ball, and a Lanemasters amount of hitting power when he kept it near the pocket. It seemed to be hard to kepe it near the pocket, hard to control

The Supernova hits almost as hard as Lanemasters balls

Geez! Did that guy have like 10 boards of area with the World Class PP!!!

wow i really like how the last guy rolled the ball, such power and consistency

from all the balls, i liked the world class particle pearl

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

I think it says that at the end of the vid...i think...

On edit: my relation of the Creature and WCPP was largely based on how both balls are higher RG, lower differential. Obviously, the WCPP is a stronger ball...but the cores don't rev up as fast (and thus don't expend energy as quickly) as the other balls like the Break. It seemed that on the wood lanes, higher RGs worked better...the quicker the ball rolled/revved, the less room one had, especially downlane.
