Bowling Form Help!!!! PLEASE!
« on: May 09, 2010, 03:42:28 PM »
Looking for some tips and/or constructive critisism on my bowling form. I was bowling on a burnt up shot with a Hammer Emerald vibe.  One of my few strikes on this lane.  I feel like there is something im doing wrong so any suggestions are welcome!  Thanks so much in advance for the help everyone.

Looks very solid to me!  Your timing seems to be just a bit off, which is easily fixed.  I really only have 3 comments on your game, and this is being overly critical so if I were you I'd be happy with where you're at!

First off I think your first step is awfully short, which appears to cause you to start fairly far up the lane.  Having a very short first step causes your other steps to be very fast to catch up with your body.  This could be the issue with your timing.  Playing around with moving back a few inches and taking a slightly larger step is easy enough to try and fix if it feels comfortable.

The second comment is related to the first, your pushaway seems a little bit rushed and out of sync.  There should be a defined point during your approach that you have your pushaway with the ball.  Once again this could be fixed by changing the speed of your approach and your first step.  For me I have the same speed for each of my steps so I have a defined pushaway of my second step going into my third.  This allows me to have a very structured approach.

The last comment is about your left arm during the approach.  Right now it's out to the side most of the time of your approach, you should try and get that left arm in front of you pointing out on the lane (usually at your target) so that you can follow through firm at your breakpoint.

Out of everything I mentioned the last one is the hardest to do and also probably the least important.

These things are very easily fixed though, and because you've got such a solid game base it should be a quick fix as well.

Just some feedback, hopefully some of it helps, and if not good luck with your game!
