Equation Videos..
« on: January 14, 2007, 11:52:14 AM »
Hey all! Here's my short video of my Equation.. its only one shot because cosmic was turning on in less than a minute so i couldn't get a full video.. this is it for right now.. full length one soon to come!!

Equation video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qCGqqa6q5Q

Here's my other video of my approach. Give me some pointers and i'll try my best to fix what needs to be done. This isn't my normal approach. It's really just my approach for what needed to be thrown on the lanes today, and once again, i couldn't get a few shots because of cosmic about to start..

Approach video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIF0l6jbwK0

BTW, if the video doesn't start then give it a few minutes to process. Thanks!
BTW2, i think it looks like i muscle the ball a lot. That's because i was trying to put some speed on it just so everyone knows.. and once again, another video of my normal approach and all is comming soon.

Looks pretty good to me.

Yeah, it does look like your muscling and it looks like you might have a slight bend in the elbow during your backswing. Not sure if that'll hurt your game or not. Overall, looks pretty solid.

I will make this short. Do you see any pro throw the ball the way you do? There might be a reason they dont. In my old opinion, if you keep throwing the ball the way you do at 14, you wont be bowling at 24 or 34 if your lucky.

Can you explain what you mean more? I didn't really understand what you meant for some reason

I guess the main thing I see is your shoulders are wide open at delivery. That might work OK on today's throw it right and let it go shot. But someday you will find a condition where you will have to square up at the line and wont be able to just let it rip.

I dont know when that condition will happen, but maybe someday in your bowling career.

I know they are not 14 years old and learning how to bowl. They developed their style over years of learning the fundamentals and then tried new things. Show me where Tommy Jones opens his shoulders as much as Brian.

Shipper,
I think you're being a bit harsh, especially after only viewing one shot.
From the looks of it, kid seems to have good timing, hand goes thru ball strongly, lays it down with good fingers, ball gets to the pins with good speed and destroys the deck.
I think he'll develop into a fine bowler.  I fail to see any major problems down the road.  The older he gets, the better his timing will get (and it already looks pretty good), and the more consistent he'll get.
Naturally, as all avid bowlers, he'll learn many things about his game in the process, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he develops into a fine scratch bowler one day, provided, of course, if he has a good mental disposition.
Regards,
BowlingWolf

Thank you for the kind words BowlingWolf .. im not exactly sure what it means by "opening my shoulders too much", so im not sure if it's going to hurt my game or what, but im not hurting anything right now. Hmmm, well im gonna try to go back down there tonight and see if i can get a few shots in. I might try to get a video of my 2 fingered / 2 handed release as well. With my 2 handed release i average around 175, so im not too bad at that, and i only bowl like that when im fooling around. I know its dumb, but i've produced a very good 2 handed style bowling like that. I only bowl 3 fingered (the normal style) but like i said, once in a while to fool around i'll bowl 2 handed. So i might get a video of that as well! Can't wait!
BTW, i just wanna get a video of that just to have one just so everyone knows! I just felt like saying all that for some reason

Opening the shoulders means that you turn your body (shoulders) off to the side, rather than pointed at the lane.  This is usually associated with power players as it can create a coil effect and "spring" you back to face the lane, generating a bit more power.  However, if done incorrectly it can cause back problems due to the stress it can create.
