Video all critics welcome....
« on: December 17, 2007, 06:05:23 PM »
Just made this last night just trying to get some insight on things to work on...  I know one thing is i need to stay down at the line and not lift up...  My backswing is high but i think i've come to the point of just dealing with it since it would take a ton of work to change...

first two shots is punisher with pin over the ring finger...
Last three shots is the smokin inferno with pin over bridge...

frockc,
The one thing I noticed was a little delay in the top swing.  Like you are loading the swing, if you can bring the swing down a touch and open the left shoulder a touch on the backswing that should help a little.  Just my .02 worth.

Yeah looks like the timing was off just a little on the swing. But other then that form wise looked pretty good. Another tip...wear a longer shirt next time..lol

I would change your approach. I dont like how you walk straight then on your last step you slide your right foot to the left in front of you. That keeps you from being able to open up better.

As they have said, you are muscling the ball. You can tell, because your back swing is higher then your shoulder. This causes you to have excessive ball speed and a lower rev rate. I noticed on a few of your shots the ball didn't turn the corner very well, this is why.

When you push the ball away, you should not have to help it with your arm. Let it swing freely. This will lower your ball speed, and after you get used to it, it will correct your timing.

Hope this helps.

Hey frockc,
Generally i liked the video, your form is solid not a whole lot that needs work, but its always those last bits that make the biggest difference. Now alot of people said your swing looked muscled this is because it just doesnt look natural. Your swing always has a tendency to follow your body and since you drift alot to the left with your last step the ball has to follow that. Fix your drift and the arm swing will fall into place.
Now theres nothing wrong with a high backswing, some of the best players in the world have backswings over their head. In my opinion a high backswing is an easy way to create power because gravity will naturally pull the ball down. In order to create the same amount of power with a low backswing you have to pull the ball forward with your upper body.
As for timing you get the ball into the swing very late but the ball isn't too far behind you at the line. This is because your pace is pretty even throughout your footwork instead of speeding up a bit at the end which would be caused by a proper power step. Just push the ball out a little sooner, speed up the power step (4th speed) and push off your opposite foot into the line.
Rev rate and speed are fine just I would maybe use a stronger ball on that pattern.
