Just for fun
« on: March 03, 2017, 06:14:04 PM »
My kids had a half day of school today so we went bowling. I have never videoed myself bowling before so I thought what the hell. I'm using a snap lock freshly sanded with 2000 grit pad, the bumpers are up and the lanes have oil from last night yet so it is pulled way down. This is more just for fun but if you see something I could work on, chime in please. Thanks. I hope this works, the vid is coming from photo bucket.

I'm definitely not a coach so take this for what it's worth. Downswing seems a little muscled vs letting gravity do it. What I mean is that, instead of freeing up the swing and waiting to accelerate the hand through once it gets by the ankle area, your pulling it down and accelerating early.

When I feel my self doing this, it means I've thrown my timing off somehow. Getting the ball into the swing late or something.

This was something my coach had fixed in my game and helped me from pulling the ball as much as I did in the past.

Otherwise nice video!

I do see what your saying about my down swing. My whole approach to me, seems compact Ill say after watching this. I know that with my 4 step approach I should be moving the ball right away, trust me when I say that I have tried to address that...  It doesnt work out to well...lol

Thank you.

Yes you want to start you right arm and right foot at the same time. It's not pushing the ball out and away, but just letting the ball drop down into the swing.

This will help get your arm back in sync when you slide into your last step at the foul line.

Not bad by any means.

Your strength and good timing are hiding a flaw.  As you swing the ball to the back, your ball comes away from your body.  You continue the swing with the ball away from your body, which causes you to pull it back to your target.  Work on your crossover step to keep the swing in line.  Keep your release close to your ankle.  This will give you better leverage and in turn, more accuracy.

The coach is right, crossing over the first step can help with clearing your hip/leg for your swing.

Your push away is late and tradition says to push away the same time you take the first step. To some bowlers, even for christ barnes, this "late" push away is not wrong. I start my push away just as I complete my second step (I take 5 steps). But, You might benefit with the "traditional" push away where the feet the the push away starts together.

Your feet follows your swing and this could shorten your power step when you start the push away together with the first step.

your tempo looks like this 1.2..3...4slide_____ or short, medium, long, and slide____

the recommended tempo taught by most for 4 step is 1...2..3.4slide____ long, medium, short, and slide___

For others it may be: medium, medium, short, and slide.....

Long and medium first step depends the length of the individual's upper extremity and/or length of the push away. but, it should be natural and free as possible.

Must add.... getting a coach to work with you personally is the way to go.
