Looking for constructive criticism/ideas on what to do next
« on: April 01, 2011, 01:01:44 AM »
Ive been back in bowling for 8 months now, and Im looking for some expert advice on how im doing and where to go from here. Heres a quick video from last month:-

And for those who are interested, heres some videos of me 8 and 9 months ago to show where Ive come from:-

Ive been receiving coaching lessons when I can fit them in, but it can never hurt to get more opinions,

Cheers

Try to drop the ball naturally into the swing instead of dropping it a little then pulling it into the swing.  Your delivery looks a little muscled right at delivery, but if you clean up the start, the end might take care of itself.

I agree with Strider...   Definately muscling the ball quite a bit....  just need to relax your arm when you push away and "let the ball fall", gravity willl take over your swing and will most likely allow you to smooth up your release a bit....

I think your very dominate from the waist-up, your controlling the speed, revs and targeting all from your upper body strength, as the nite goes on, your scores start to drop as you tire so what do I think you need? Simple, get into a strength training regimen, build your Right leg calf muscles so you can use your foot speed as your ball speed and strengthen your Right leg to be more stable at the line so you can free-up your arm swing.

You start the ball into descent on about the 2nd step of your 4 step approach. Your timing at the line is good.

What this means is you are helping the ball more than you need to by muscling it to get your timing at the line evened out.

If you start the ball weight transfer from the right hand into the left with the first step taking the weight of your body, you should be able to relax the swing more and have more consistent shots. You don't even really need a lane and a ball in hand to practice this. You can just ghost bowl at home to get a feel for it.

Thanks for the advice everyone, believe or not I have been trying to not muscle the ball, my coach noticed the same problem as well and we have been working on it, as well my approach and the bend in my arm that I used to have. Its good to have a consensus about what I need to improve though, and ill be practicing at home to get a feel for it. I should be at the bowl a few times this week to practice and if theres any improvement Ill share it for more criticism, thanks.
