Mens 2005 Intercollegiate Bowling Championships

Current PBA Pros Brian Valenta and PJ Haggerty are both anchoring their respective teams on this very tough pattern for the National title.

This year was my last season of collegiate bowling and both of these teams had some powerhouse talent.

2005 was a bad year for me.  I did okay in 03-04, but those teams were tremendous.  In my opinion, PJ was the best that year, but Valenta had the ooooh factor.  Everyone wanted to watch him.  Unfortunately I can't watch the video (work filter).

Blast from the past, I could only make it to 14:00 in the video, that "announcer", and I use the term loosely is atrocious. Few things:

-Lindenwoods shirts were awful in 2005, today they are even worse

-Brain Valenta really packed on the pounds, Its weird seeing him that thin

-Emil was a cool dude then, still is now. I enjoy bowling with him

Yeah that announcer was freaking horrible.  I'll never forget Team Match Games that year.  It was the first time I saw BV throw it in person.  I was on the approach in the tenth frame with 280 if I punch out.  On my second step in my approach, about 6 or 7 pairs to the left of me I saw a black orb flying through the air about 6 feet off the ground and didn't land until about the 40 ft mark.  I balked and stood on the approach for about 5 seconds in pure awe at what I just saw.  Then I went 7-1 in the tenth.  SMH.

There was also a year or two where everywhere I went in the Midwest, people were confusing me for Andre Parker.  I've never met him personally, but people swore we looked alike and threw it almost the same.  I never saw the resemblance, but I guess there's a twin out there for everybody.

You guys are making me feel really old, lol

I remember bowling the Match Games as well....at good old Strike and Strike lanes in St. Louis. I also remember having half of my equipment stolen, inlcuding a Black Hammer that I just shot 800 with a few weeks before, from the paddock there.

We were lucky enough to make it the Championships one year, 1991. It wasn't a total Baker format like it is today. We bowled a bunch of regular games and only the finals were Baker games. And we didn't have any TV at that time. But it was definately an experience i'll never forget.
