Hey there,

Im glad you decided to post a video here because it really is a good place to get constructive critzism.

I noticed a few things/issues you should address to better yourelf.

You run to the foul line. You can stop this by moving up on the approach. By moving up, there is less distance to cover, so your body will have to slow down and walk slower otherwise you will foul every time. Also, you could try adding a 5th step. You use 4 right now. What you could do is take a step first with your left foot and then push away on the second step. this will also allow you to take shorter steps and not run to the line.

Another thing is that you seem to "bail out" upon release of the ball. If not bailing out, you are pulling up at the point of release. Try to work on a little more knee bend and staying down on the shot. I dont meen keping your shoulders forward because this is bad. I mean knee bend. This will also keep you a little more stable at the line as well which equates to more accuracy.

i would suggest few changes, it might or might not work for u

1) on ur second step, u move up and open ur shoulders, it looks little bit off, since u dont have a push away, i can understand that in order not to force ur backswing the only way is to bring up ur head level. however, that might not always be good, meaning normally u want to have ur head level at a constant position, or slowly moving down.

2) u dont follow thru all the way, the hand doesnt reach usually ur face level, when normally people would have it above the head

3) this is not a must, but if u dont have knee/leg problems, u should bend little bit more on ur sliding leg. right now ur body is straight up, u may want to have it lower, a good example would be this:

look at his chest, when hes about to release the ball, the chest is facing down almost completely, this is maybe little bit extreme, u may want to try it with about 45 degree

When a house bowler misses the mark, misses the break point and strike, for many ppl its called a wallshot. When a pro does that its call adjustment

When a house bowler gets his finger stuck in the ball and fall on the lanes, for many ppl its called lame bowler. When a pro does that its called the Machuga flop! ha i like this one.

Thanks for the advice. I'm probably going to bowl a few games here in a bit and try out shortening my stride and moving further up on the approach. I'll definitely try to bend the knee more. I've been reading up on approach tips and timing.

From what I've read, I should put my heels on at the front of the foul line and take 4-1/2 free flowing steps to determine my start point. From there, my first step needs to be shorter than my extended arm, with my feet moving from heel to toe. The second step should increase in length some. The thrid should be short and quick, and I should push off with the ball of my foot. I should bend the knee at 45 degrees (start to assume a "sitting poistion"). The fourth should be in-line with my thrid step with the toe pointing at my target.

I've only been bowling "seriously" for the past 3 months or so. I'm going to start league play this summer. I've also signed up for lessons with Carol Norman and can't wait to see how that goes.

I'll add another video once I have applied the recommended changes to my approach get some feedback then. Thanks again.

I've shortened up my approach and have been trying to get down lower with more knee bend. Let me know what you think so far.

The problem with that is that you do not get your arm extended early enough imo.  It should be approximately parallel with the floor, after an initial up and out motion from your starting position.

I would also advise against bending at the waist (as suggested earlier) if you can help it.  You are losing a lot of your leverage and accuracy from changing the angle of your lean *whilst* you are releasing the ball.  Leaning more than 30degrees is generally not good mechanics, but is workable for higher rev players.  Not needed for your current release though.

One thing I noticed right away from both videos is that you aren't following thru all the way. You need to bring your arm up a bit more after you release the ball.
