new black widow bite
« on: April 12, 2008, 02:29:37 PM »
well at least its new to me.  someone in one of my leagues sold it to someone on my team this past thursday night (4-10-08) and that same night i bought it from him.  but these shots are from right sfter i got inserts put in the ball, i could fit the ball perfectly before but without the inserts just didnt feel right.  unlike most of my other equipment this ball is not drilled full roller, somehow over the last few weeks i got away from being a full roller.  but anyway here is the video and these two shots were on freshly oiled lanes, also on the 2nd shot you can kind of hear the person from the snack bar saying someones food was ready.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nSylRWiAf24

I saw your other post and I would say in general you have a pretty good form. What weight do you throw? You seem to try and force the ball a little. Try to relax and let gravity power the speed of the ball. You also have a huge shoulder drop. I would try and get your shoulders closer to level and get more knee bend to get the same effect of dropping the shoulder.

i throw 15, yeah my shoulder drop always bothered me a little but its really comfortable.  there are times when i am more level at the line, usually just when im being lazy though.

You want to be more level at the line. You will actually get more leverage.

I know I was a little harsh on your last post, but....  You have to drop your shoulder to get the ball down thru the heads & it's not that bad compared to some I've seen.

The only way to get more speed w/out forcing it at the bottom would be to hold your ball higher at approach, letting it drop at the push away to create a little higher back swing to generate more speed on it's own w/the pendulum movement.  That would take practice, especially since it would be uncomfortable at 1st.  You still would have to hinge your elbow like you do to generate your crank.  As long as you don't have tendonitis & you're repeating your shots, I wouldn't adjust too much.  I'd get several opinions from certified coaches before changing anything.  What works for one doesn't always work for another.  The other thing to do would be to watch video of a Ken(?) Simard, Brian Himmler or a Steve Hoskins, they tend to be crankers as that what looks like you are trying to do.  JMHO.  Good luck.
