Track Equipment
« on: January 07, 2007, 11:06:40 AM »
Patrick allen's win today with Ebonite first show of the year and first without Track equipment. Randy made a statement today on the show that Patrick just did not match up well with Track equipment he said that that doesn't mean Track isn't any good just that he didn't match up well with it. My question is does this mean that anyone who throws similar to Patrick shouldn't purchase Track equipment or even look at it for that matter because it isn't going to work. He also said that when Patrick was using Track that he felt that he couldn't beat anyone that doesn't say a whole lot for Track does it. I was under the illusion that you could drill a ball to work for anyone but I guess that isn't so. I have owned Track in the past and I have bowled some good games with them but I never got a consistent look wit them so I don't purchase them anymore . Is Track equipment that condition specific that it just won't match up  with a lot of bowlers?

I'm Still gunna answer Riley... even if it is in the Video section...

Honestly... It all depends on the bowler.  Everyone is different in what they look for in a ball/company.  I prefer Storm over most.  Everything they make gets down the lane very well.  I like playing left to right so it works out.

I've thrown Brunswick: It didnt carry for me when I got deep, rolled to early.

I've thrown Columbia: Got long down the lane but never really made a move.

I've thrown Track: Too much mid lane and too much early backend.

I've thrown Ebonite: Kind of the same as Columbia but smoother.

And I've never really matched up well with anything from Hammer in a long time.

So Everyone should be picky and research these things.

Patrick just didnt match up well with Track's characteristics.
(eventho he won his first 3 Regionals he bowled with the stuff, If I'm not mistaken)

You do have to remember that it's a little different when you're on tour trying to make a living.  Smaller differences can make the difference between averaging 226 and 240, which could be the cut.  Remember what kind of scores they have to put up to win out there, and realize that things have to be JUST SO.

If you aren't watching 'The Wire,' the government should be forced to come to your house and repossess your television. END OF STORY!

Mr. Lebowski, this is Bill Salnicker with the Southern Cal Bowling League, and I just got a, an informal report, that a member of your team, uh, Walter Sobchak, drew a firearm during league play. If this is true of course, it contravenes a number of the league's by-laws, and article 27 of the league...

BOB:  Did you see the way she was lookin' at me?
DOUG:  Yeah, because she thought you were some kind of freak!

The pros usually have ball rolls all their own, and it would be rare for someone to be similar enough to discount a company or ball simply because a pro doesn't match up with it.  Simply being a high-speed, medium-high rev player isn't similar enough.

Additionally, the conditions on the tour are different from those we typically bowl on in league or tournaments.  The backends are cleaned a lot more than the typical house, and they break down differently.  Reactions that work well for league type conditions may not work well for PBA conditions.  Aside from "Patrick can make anything work on league conditions" he may not have had the same problems (or any at all) if he were bowling leagues or more plebian tournaments.
