Updated Approach & Mission 2.0
« on: December 15, 2010, 09:25:37 AM »
Alright, after working on my own and with a coach, this is how far I have come. From what I've heard and seen, I have two main problems:

1. I need knee bend

2. My push-away goes out to the right

Constructive criticism is welcomed! xD

1) Your pushaway should go in front of  your right knee.
2) At the end of your 2nd step (5 step approach)the ball should not be past your right knee.
3) In your backswing  your hand is on the outside of the ball.It should be behind the ball.
4) As the ball is swinging backwards you lean away from the ball. The ball should stay inline with your head.
5) Because of #2 the ball is getting to the top of your swing early.
6) You hold the ball at the top of the swing for 2 steps. The ball should stay there for a split second then drop as free as possible.

You have a great release. This game is not about just power it's some  power and mostly control. You can become a very good house bowler with your style. If you want more out of bowling (turn pro) then make some changes in your game.

Watch a power player with control.Look at the effort he put into his shot compared to you.

Not bad kid, but listen to SPR3WR. There has to be a level of touch and fluidity in your game. Good example is a guy like Tommy Jones. He is pure power but you watch his head, shoulders, hips... everything is in place.

The more herky-jerky you get the more physical problems you will have later. I''m 26 with tendinitis in my wrist and structural damage in my hand. Ive been revving it up since i was 12 and im paying for it now cuz i was a muscle.

I increased the flat spot in my release, which cleaned it up. I throw it harder and whack it harder than before, (lol) but, im pain free when I do it cuz I cleaned it up (not as much grap/hit).

I would focus on not pulling the ball up so high in your swing. Doing that consistently is almost impossible, hence why no one on tour does it that wins. Your hand/forearm should be "loosy-goosy" while holding the ball.

Good luck kid.
