Video Time! [Sapphire Zone Pearl]

Fresh THS, hyper-sensitive to carry down, still a great ball, carries just as good as the new stuff.

Enjoy!

Not bad, I still have a 15lb Sapphire Zone undrilled sitting next to a 15lb undrilled Track Synergy Pearl.

I can't wait to drill the Sapphire zone, that ball is such a classic.

definitely a classic, even though its 1 step up from urethane.
I'd highly suggest going pin down with the layout.
Pin up is probably the reason this ball was left for dead on the ball rack.
It probably never turned over on the back.

If your referring to the sapphire zone I don't think it's anywhere close to urethane. It has the power coil 17 coverstock and can be drilled a lot of ways to hook. I know a women still throwing one as her primary ball that was originally drilled in the mid 90s and it hooks just as much as her newer equipment. Now the first zones released either the Burgundy or Black Amber were very close to a urethane coverstock.

I cant say I agree with that.
PowerKoil 17 Pearl for me, moves as much or less than my sanded urethane black axe.

To each his own I guess.

You have a low rev rate, anything pearl for you on oil isn't going to hook much. In your new video of the pearl combat zone, like the pearl sapphire zone, the ball doesn't hook much for you.

Pearlized balls also aren't made necessarily for oily lanes, they are made for when the lanes start breaking down in the heads, or when the back ends are too strong.

You can also dull either of those zones with some 800 grit to take the shine off and get the ball into an earlier roll. In the same respect you can take almost any ball out there and with enough polish burned into the ball make it go as straight as plastic.
