If I wish to take videos of me and some of my friends bowling, what video camera will do the job? I would like to be able to plug the camera into a laptop computer to view the images and perhaps use some analysis software.
Don't wish to spend much money, bowling is all I would use it for.
Suggestions?

If you are just looking for something simple and easy to use, look into a
Flip Video camera. I use mine more than I use my regular camera. They are between 100 and 150 bucks, hold between 30 and 60 minutes of video, and have a built in USB thingey that plugs right into your computer. Powered by two AA batteries. They are about the size of a cigarette pack.
Not something you would want to film the birth of your children on, but not a bad little handy camera for the money.

I shot my first videos with a digital pocket camera. Only 320x240 resolution, but surprisingly good and for overall impressions absolutely sufficient.
As a step up I recently bought a small digital camera, data storage on an SD chip, only digital zoom (not optical), also functions as a photo camera and can be used as a webcam, kinda like this:

Resolution is much better (640x480), and anything one can ask for for general bowling videos.
Anyway - as another investment, use a stable mount. You can get some rigid folding tripods for small money, and this enhances the video quality very much.
