Visionary Slate Blue Gargoyle Video
« on: January 17, 2008, 05:53:51 AM »
This video showcases Visionary's Slate Blue Gargoyle going down the lane on Light to Medium Conditions.  After some carry down I did have to move towards the dryer area on the lane in order to carry fairly well. One of the biggest things I like about this ball is it stays clean and it still looks virtually new even though I have thrown at least 50 or so games with it.

Thanks for the video, but...  In no way do I think that's medium to heavy oil.  You have very low revs and dumped it near the 10 board with a small swing and it walked right to the hole.  Pearl urethane, oil, and low revs means very little hook.  It would be worse with carry down.  Because urethane hooks earlier than resin, urethane is a mess with carrydown.  Inside there's too much oil and if you try to go outside of it, it will start to hook, hit the carrydown, then smack the 3 (2 for the lefties) right in the face.  I'm by no means a cranker and own a SBG.  Even on a med/light THS, if I keep it in the oil, it hooks very little.  Sure, if I swing it out to 5 I can get at least that much hook, but that's using all the dry on a med/light shot.  On medium to med/heavy, I'd probably have to point mine towards the pocket a little.  Is this the same house/lane conditions you've done your other videos at?  I'm not trying to sound so negative, but a video is much more helpful if the real lane conditions can be identified.  Two recent Lane#1 videos (Liberator and Buzzbomb) did the same thing.

The house has added more oil to the backends so its not scorched out there.  To get things right I called down and they said the new condition is more of a medium condition.  My goof, I went and threw up at a house that hasn't had a 300 game yet and the house was so dry and the back ends well there was no backend yet so dry inside the 2nd arrow.  My regular house felt like a medium to heavy shot but in the real world it is not and its actually apparently a medium shot.  I was also throwing a fresh oil so to start there was no carrydown.  Still My goof!

One thing to keep in mind here is ball speed.  I do not throw the ball fast and speed is a big player when it comes to ball movement.  Even with just some revelutions someone with slower ball speeds can make a ball hook pretty good and carry half way descent especially with a urethane ball.
